American crime drama Longmire will be coming to an end after it’s 6th season it was announced today. The show, which stars Robert Taylor and Katee Sackhoff, has been renewed by Netflix for a 10 episode final season.
This isn’t the first time Longmire has ended, although it will probably be the last. It originally ran on A&E in the US, but they dropped it after 3 seasons. It was then rescued by Netflix, who premiere it in various countries, although it airs on TCM in the UK.
“We are grateful to Netflix for the opportunity to compose a closing chapter for these beloved characters that inspires lasting memories,” commented exec producers Greer Shephard, Hunt Baldwin and John Coveny in a statement. “Most importantly, we’re committed to delivering a dynamic and satisfying conclusion to our fans that rewards their longtime loyalty.”
Based on Craig Johnson’s novels, the series follows Sheriff Walt Longmire (Taylor) in a fictional Wyoming County as he investigates serious crimes.
Season 5 of Longmire will air on TCM in the UK – Sunday 20th November at 9pm.
