Talia al Ghul Is Coming To Arrow Played By Lexa Doig
We’ve had Ra’s, we’ve had Nyssa, now her half-sister Talia al Ghul will be arriving on Arrow, and she’ll be played by someone who’s no stranger to genre tv – Lexa Doig.
The Canadian actress is probably best know for her role in Andromeda, but has appeared in a range of scifi/fantasy genre tv shows, including Stargate SG-1 (she is Canadian…), Eureka, Supernatural, V, Smallville, Primeval: New World, Continuum and most recently Saving Hope.
In the comic book world, Talia is arguably the better known daughter of Ra’s al Ghul, and is mother of Damian Wayne, son of Batman. She first appeared in 1971, after Batman rescued her from ‘Dr. Darrk’. This started and on/off affair with the Bat, eventually resulting in a son. She is also responsible for bringing the second Robin, Jason Todd aka Red Hood, back to life using a Lazarus Pit.
As an al Ghul, shes been trained by the League Of Assassins, and can be every bit as ruthless as her father if the need arises. However, she’s always had a soft spot for Bruce, and often depicted as being torn between devotion for her father and love for Batman.
The Arrow version of Talia is described as “an elite warrior who doesn’t pick sides but rather creates her own.” With the Arrowverse’s penchant for ‘borrowing’ elements of Batman for Oliver, I do wonder if we’re going to see a Talia/Ollie romance play out on screen…
Arrow airs Wednesday nights at 8pm on Sky 1 in the UK.
