Iron Fist Showrunner Scott Buck To Take On Inhumans
Marvel have gone internal with the showrunner for their new Inhumans series, which lands on ABC next year. Scott Buck, currently showrunner on Marvel’s Iron Fist, which premieres on Netflix, 17th March 2017, is moving over to become writer and showrunner on Marvel’s The Inhumans, which lands on ABC in the US on the 26th September 2017 for an 8 episode run.
Scott Buck is a veteran of the industry, having also worked on brilliant shows such as Six Feet Under, Rome & Dexter as both writer and exec producer.
News that Marvel would be going down the tv route for Inhumans, rather than the long mooted film, dropped back in November. The show will centre on Black Bolt, ruler of the Inhumans, and the Inhuman Royal Family. It will also air in selected cinemas though, as they have done a deal with IMAX, which will see the first 2 episodes air on the giant screens from the 1st September 2017.
Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1965 for Marvel Comics, The Inhumans are an interesting choice for a standalone tv show, given the lead character Black Bolt is unable to speak. He generally communicates using sign language or via spokesperson as his voice is capable of releasing a destructive shockwave that could level a city.
Marvel are still saying The Inhumans film is still on the cards, although it has dropped off their current scheduling. They also say they don’t see this as a spin-off from Agents Of Shield, despite the fact Inhuman characters have been popping up on that show for a few seasons now.
