Synopsis For The Return Episodes Of Flash, Arrow, Supergirl & Legends

The DC superhero shows are on a break right now, but are due back at the end of Jan in the US and UK. To help whet your appetite for their return, the CW has released the following synopsis for the upcoming mid-season premieres.

The Flash

The Flash’s return also comes with the trailer above. Although it doesn’t mention it in the synopsis below, that does rather look like Barry is messing about with the timestream again… Really Barry?? Have you learnt nothing!?. I mean it’s not like anything bad ever happens when you mess with time… geez…

Synopsis: Barry (Grant Gustin) is tormented by his vision of the future where Iris (Candice Patton) is murdered by Savitar. When a criminal named Plunder (guest star Stephen Huszar) shows up in Central City, Barry recalls the villain’s presence in his vision of the future and fears that if he catches Plunder, it will cement Iris’ fate. Confused about Barry’s hesitation to stop Plunder, Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) decides to step in as Kid Flash. Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) offers Julian (Tom Felton) a job.

Arrow

Arrow finished with the team not in a happy place (I mean… this is Arrow after all!) Felicity’s new boyfriend is dead, killed by her old boyfriend Oli after he’s tricked by Prometheus. Oli also is having relationship flashbacks, as old girlfriend (and Black Canary 2.0) Laurel Lance appears in the bunker looking a lot less dead than last time we saw her! Oh, and best friend Diggle is in prison… again…

Synopsis: Worried that Prometheus is right and he is truly a killer at heart, Oliver (Stephen Amell) looks for any ray of hope and finds it in what seems to be the miraculous return of Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy). However, Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards), still reeling from Detective Malone’s murder, is bent on revenge – she wants to stop Prometheus at any cost. While in prison, Diggle (David Ramsey) fights for his life.

Supergirl

Supergirl returns with an episode directed by the legendary Kevin Smith. Never being one to shy away from nepotism, his daughter Harley also has a role in the show too!

Synopsis: Kara (Melissa Benoist) is moved by the story of a missing woman named Izzy (Harley Quinn Smith) and decides to investigate despite Snapper Carr’s (guest star Ian Gomez) order to leave it alone. Kara takes Mon-El (Chris Wood) with her to the last place Izzy was seen and the duo find themselves thrust through a portal to another planet, Slaver’s Moon, where the downtrodden are sold as slaves. The leader of the trafficking ring is none other than Roulette (Dichen Lachman).

To make matters worse, Slaver’s Moon has a red sun, which means Kara and Mon-El are stripped of their powers and stuck on the planet with no way home. Meanwhile, back on Earth, Alex (Chyler Leigh) blames herself for Kara’s disappearance, fearing she’s become too focused on her new relationship with Maggie (Floriana Lima) and too complacent in watching out for her sister.

Legends Of Tomorrow

As we saw at the end of the mid-season finale, Rip Hunter is back… and apparently directing movies based on the adventures of the Legends! He also has no memory of being a time traveller himself… I’m sure this is the plot from the Stargate episode Wormhole X-Treme… Anyway, the Legion Of Doom are after Rip, but the Legends are also having issues… The episode is titled “Raiders of the Lost Art”, and there is a good reason for that. Due to the time aberration caused by Darhk & Merlyn, George Lucas quits film school.

That means no Raiders of the Lost Ark, and no Star Wars… (NOOoooooooo as Darth Vader would say…) That’s a problem, as Nate was inspired by Raiders to become a historian, and Ray by Star Wars to become an engineer. Without those works to inspire them, they don’t become who they are, and their past begins to change. Here’s the official synopsis:

Synopsis: When Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough) and Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman) try to capture Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) in 1967, they create an Aberration big enough to draw the attention of the Legends. However, when the team arrives they discover that Rip has no memories of his past due to ‘time drift’ and is just a graduate film student.

After trying to convince Rip of who he was, they discover that he possesses an incredibly powerful artifact known as the Spear of Destiny, which the Legion of Doom is after. Ray (Brandon Routh) and Nate (Nick Zano) realize that the Aberration has also affected them personally making it difficult to help the team. Meanwhile, Rory (Dominic Purcell) asks Stein (Victor Garber) for help and makes him promise to keep it a secret from the team.

Supergirl, Season 2b is due to air on Sky 1, Monday 30th January 2017 at 8pm. Flash should air on Tuesday 31st January 2017 at 8pm with Arrow on Wednesday 1st February 2017 at 8pm.

Despite Legends Of Tomorrow moving to air after Flash on Tuesdays in the US, it’s possible it may stay on Thursdays over here, but as of now, that’s not totally clear. It will depend on whether there are any crossover things that will affect the air dates. We’ll let you know when we have confirmation.
