Channel 4 have announced the uk premiere date for Homeland Season 6, and it’ll be just a few days after the US, on the 22nd January at 9pm.

Picking up several months after the terrorist attack at Berlin’s Hauptbahnhof Station was thwarted at the end of season 5, Carrie (Claire Danes) has returned to the USA, following the election of the new President of the United States. Still not back with the CIA, she is now working at a foundation that provides aid to the United States’ Muslim community.

Fifteen years after the 9/11 attacks, Carrie, along with the country’s counterterrorism apparatus, is still coming to grips with the ramifications and responsibilities of balancing security and civil liberties. As with previous seasons of Homeland, the show has a tendency to mirror real world events. Albeit in this version, Elizabeth Keane (Elizabeth Marvel – House of Cards, Fargo), the female presidential nominee became POTUS.

This season follows the different competing interests and complicated motivations that are revealed during the transition of power that takes place in the seventy days between incoming and outgoing administrations, and the individuals tasked with protecting western lives and values.

Returning cast includes Mandy Patinkin as Saul Berenson, F. Murray Abraham as Dar Adal and… Rupert Friend as Peter Quinn.

Homeland Season 6 will air on Channel 4, Sunday 22nd January 2017 at 9pm.
