‘Code Black’ Renewed For Season 3

The staff of Angels Memorial Hospital defy the odds once again, as CBS pulls out a last minute renewal for ‘Code Black‘.

The medical series, set in the overcrowded and understaffed ER in LA, hasn’t seen any growth this year, and was one of the lowest-rated scripted dramas this season, despite adding a high profile star in the shape of Rob Lowe. CBS airs the show in the US, but it’s made by ABC Studios. It’s believed CBS will be getting a reduction in the license fee they have to pay, making the show more financially viable.

The drama takes place in the busiest, most notorious ER in the nation, where the staggering influx of patients can outweigh the limited resources available to the extraordinary doctors and nurses whose job is to treat them all – creating a condition known as Code Black. Marcia Gay Harden, Boris Kodjoe Melanie Chandra, Harry Ford, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Jillian Murray, William Allen Young, Luis Guzmán, all star, along with the aforementioned Rob Lowe.

CBS, so far, have renewed 5 of their freshmen series, along with renewing 18 existing shows, and picking up 9 new series including the Big Bang spin-off ‘Young Sheldon’, ‘SEAL Team’ starring Bones/Angel’s David Boreanaz, ‘Wisdom Of The Crowd’ starring Jeremy Piven, and ‘Instinct’ starring Alan Cumming.

Code Black‘ airs on W (the channel formerly know as Watch) in the UK.
