ITV Encore Sets June UK Premiere Date For ‘The Americans’ Season 5
‘The Americans‘ Season 5 will arrive in Monday, 12th June 2017 at 10pm in the UK, ITV Encore have announced.
The show, which has become oddly more prescient by the day, follows 2 KBG sleeper agents who are heavily embedded in 80’s America. The new season see the arranged marriage of Philip (Matthew Rhys) and Elizabeth Jennings (Keri Russell) grow more passionate and genuine in the midst of the escalating Cold War. Paige’s budding romance with Matthew, the son of their neighbor, FBI Agent Stan Beeman, further complicates matters since Stan (Noah Emmerich) – Philip’s best friend – remains the greatest threat to the Jennings’ safety.
The series, which ends with a final 6th season of 10 episodes next year, has won critical acclaim, picking up Critics’ Choice, Peabody, Emmy and WGA Awards, both for the show and it’s leading actors. It’s been nominated for a staggering 57 awards so far throughout it’s first 4 season.
