Channel 4 Piloting ‘The Price is Right’ Return With Alan Carr As Host!
After bringing back ‘The Crystal Maze’, Channel 4 have set their sights on another classic game show format – ‘The Price is Right’!
Whilst ‘The Price is Right’ is the world’s longest running game show, and spawned one of the TV’s most iconic catchphrases, it has been off the air in the UK since 2007 when Joe Pasquale fronted a version for Challenge TV. The iconic versions of the show most people will remember, however, would be Leslie Crowther’s era in the 80’s and the Bruce Forsyth version in the 90’s on ITV.
Now Alan Carr will be at the helm of a brand new transmission pilot of ‘The Price is Right’ full of those iconic ‘Come On Down’ moments. According to the press release, it will be “packed with amazing prizes and hysterical pricing games, this is set to be a classic entertainment extravaganza.”
“I’m so excited to be the new host of The Price is Right,” commented Carr. “It’s proper bucket list territory for me as I loved it when I was growing up and now for me to be at the helm of such a legendary show is a dream come true. It just leaves me with one thing to say … COME ON DOWN!”
The Price Is Right (1 x 60 TX pilot) was commissioned by Tom Beck, Head of Live Events and Commissioning Editor for Entertainment for Channel 4 and is a Thames (part of FremantleMedia UK) production. It is Executive Produced by Thames Head of Entertainment Suzy Lamb and Mel Balac.
No news on when ‘The Price Is Right’ pilot will air on Channel 4, but we’ll keep you posted!
