‘Outlander’ Coming To More4

Time-travel drama series ‘Outlander‘ has been airing regularly on Amazon Prime for some time, but now More4 have picked up the tv linear broadcast rights to show the series from the beginning later this month.

Based on Diana Gabaldon’s best-selling books, the story follows Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe), a married WW11 combat nurse from 1945 who mysteriously falls back in time to 1743 where she is immediately thrown into an unknown world and her life is threatened. When she is forced to marry Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), a chivalrous and romantic young Scottish warrior, a passionate relationship is ignited that tears Claire’s heart between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.

‘Outlander’ will still premiere on Amazon Prime, but More4 will air the series some months later. Fans are currently suffering what they refer to as ‘Droughtlander’ as the series has been off-air longer than usual, due to the complexities of shooting ‘Voyager’, the 3rd book in Gabaldon’s series. Whilst the show is usually shot in Scotland, the sea voyages in the story meant decamping the production to South Africa for a number of months. This was so they could borrow the huge ship sets left behind by US network Starz’ other big historical show, ‘Black Sails’.

Season 3 of ‘Outlander’ has now wrapped shooting, and is due to air on Amazon Prime in September. Season 1 of ‘Outlander’ will arrive later in June on More4.
