Sharon Leal, who was most recently seen as M’gann M’orzz in ‘Supergirl’ is making the move over to CBS to join Alan Cumming’s new show ‘Instinct‘ as a series regular it has been announced.
‘Instinct’ is an adaptation of an upcoming novel from James Patterson (ZOO) & Howard Roughan, which centres on a former CIA operative (Alan Cumming – The Good Wife, Web Therapy, The X-Men). Now working as a professor and writer, he is pulled away from his new life and back to his CIA past when the NYPD detective Lizzie Needham (Bojana Novakovic – Shameless US) needs his help catching a serial killer.
Leal will play Lizzie’s friend, who has recently been promoted to be her boss at the NYPD. Khandi Alexander (Scandal, Treme, CSI: Miami) played a version of the role in the pilot, but the role was recast for the series after they tweaked the characterisation.
Along with playing the Martian M’gann M’orzz in ‘Supergirl’, Leal has also appeared in ‘Grimm’, ‘Hellcats’, ‘Private Practice’ and ‘Dreamgirls’.
Michael Rauch (Royal Pains, Beautiful People), who wrote the pilot, will serve as showrunner and Exec Producer, along with Cumming, Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kadin, Bill Robinson, Leopoldo Gout and Marc Webb who are joining him as EPs. CBS Television Studios and Kurtzman’s Secret Hideout are producing the series.
‘Instinct‘ does not yet have a UK broadcaster but isn’t airing in the US till midseason (early 2018), so there is still plenty of time. We’ll let you know when we hear more.
