‘Better Call Saul’ Renewed For Season 4

In news which I’m pretty sure comes as no surprise to anyone, AMC has renewed Better Call Saul for a 4th season, the US network announced today.

Vince Gilligan & Peter Gould’s prequel to ‘Breaking Bad’ sees Bob Odenkirk as Jimmy McGill, a lawyer who, despite usually good intentions, can never really get out of his own way… As he continues down the path of shadier and shadier decisions, he starts to shed ‘Jimmy’, for the alter-ego we know and love – ‘Saul Goodman’.

This season saw a proto-version of ‘Saul’ make an appearance as a shady ad man, due to Jimmy getting his licence suspended after an altercation with his overbearing brother, Chuck (Michael McKean). Thanks to Mike’s (Jonathan Banks) snooping, we also get the first appearance of Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito) and see the start of his war with Don Hector Salamanca (Mark Margolis).

“Supporting artists we respect and admire, delivering truly outstanding character development and nuanced dramatic twists and turns, continuing a legacy of bold creative choices, loving writing that is the best in the business: Truly, ‘S’all good, man’,” commented AMC President Charlie Collier. “Congratulations to Vince, Peter, Bob and everyone involved with ‘Better Call Saul’. Bring on season four!”

Over the show’s first 2 seasons, ‘Better Call Saul’ has picked up a truckload of awards including 14 Emmys, 7 Writers Guild of America Awards, 5 Critics’ Choice Television Awards, and 2 Golden Globes. The 3rd Season has ended as US cable’s 3rd highest rated drama, behind ‘The Walking Dead’ and ‘Fear the Walking Dead’… also AMC shows.

You can catch the first 3 seasons of ‘Better Call Saul’ on Netflix UK right now.
