The Walking Dead UK & US TV Premiere Date

by Dave Elliott

The Walking Dead is a drama based on the brilliant black and white comic books by Robert Kirkman, and brought to TV by Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile), who was replaced after the first season by Glen Mazzara, and is now under the guiding hand of Scott M. Gimple.

It tells the story of deputy sheriff Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln – This Life, Teachers, Strike Back) who awakes from a coma to find a world seemingly in the middle of a zombie apocalypse.

Indeed ant, A character was robbed of their final words in the UK version. Pretty poor.

Let’s be honest, ‘The Walking Dead’, the clues in the title and the warnings of ‘violence and horror’ before every damn segment, so people are probably expecting some walking dead, voilence and horror before the programme begins so really no need to cut anything.

Full explanation here http://www.geektown.co.uk/2016/10/25/walking-dead-smashes-launch-records-fox-uk/, but basically Fox’s legal team deemed the scenes with Glenn where too graphic to be aired at that time, and would have got them in trouble with Ofcom… Contrary to popular belief, the watershed doesn’t actually mean you can immediately start showing graphic violence at 9:01pm. There is a sort of ‘soft’ watershed which lasts until around 9.30pm, where they still have to be careful about what they air.

The obvious answer of course, would have been to schedule it at 10pm rather than 9pm, but then they didn’t know quite how graphic those scenes would be until the day before, and it would have been too late to change it.

For those that missed the full version, if you download it off ‘Catch up’, that is the full unedited version.

Talking Dead gave the release date for part two as 14th February over in the USA so if it follows the usual track, we should have it over here a day later on the 15th

It looks like Channel 5 has changed its mind about season 4! Just saw an advert saying season 4 was coming to 5Star with brand new episodes soon. There was no date just “Coming soon” with double episodes.

To all you people bragging about having SKY/FOX !!! What about us general Walking Dead fans who dont have Sky or just refuse to pay Sky’s expensive fees & have been watching season’s 1-3 on 5 via Freeview.
Come on 5, please reconsider, even putting it on 5* or 5USA !!!!

Hi Kevin.

Easiest way to get Sky exclusive shows like Walking Dead at a discounted rate is a NOW TV box. which is a very reasonable £4.99 per month for the entertainment package. – Now TV :)

Dave

Channel 5 has confirmed (23rd Jan) that they will NOT be showing season 4 of The Walking Dead, so the only way to see it in the UK is on FOX – great if you have SKY, unfortunately I don’t!!

Sky is not the only legitimate way to view Fox. I don’t have a satellite but do enjoy watching the first run of the Walking Dead on Fox.

I’d also urge you to take a look at http://www.geektown.co.uk/2014/01/02/review-now-tv-box/. Really good way of adding those missing Sky channels cheaply.

Ok so for Xmas I got the box set of the walking dead season 1 – 3 and am hooked!! I found a site online that’s allowed me to watch episodes 1-8 of season 4 but that’s where my story ends!!! When and where will episodes 9 and onwards be shown in the uk!??

Season 4 is currently airing on Fox, with new episodes showing just one day after thee US. There is no justifiable reason to obtain them on any “site”.

Reply
Kel👤 Guest February 24, 2014 - 5:14 pm

Fox are only showing current episodes I missed 1 to 8 of season 4 and have no way of watching this as no repeats so there’s every legitimate reason to watch online!

No there isn’t. You can wait for the disc if you really do want to be legitimate. If you want to be impatient and not legitimate, that’s when you watch online

mick72👤 Guest January 17, 2015 - 8:53 pm

Benjy go to [redacted: please don’t post links to illegal streaming sites] and you will find all 16 episodes of season 4 and ep 1+2 of season 5 as well as a lot of the latest films, American Sniper along with others as recent. Ho0pe this helps

Hi Rebecca, I suspect so yes, as all the other seasons have been, but it won’t be till April/May next year.

Unfortunately it’s totally dropped by Channel 5 for the moment, so not on any of their channels. You can still get it on FOX if you have Sky or a NOW TV account.

Cheers,
Dave
