US network Showtime has just dropped a new trailer for the final 5th season of the utterly brilliant ‘Episodes‘.
For those who haven’t yet caught the show, you are missing one of the best comedies to come out of the US in recent years. Created by David Crane and Jeffrey Klarik, it stars Stephen Mangan and Tamsin Greig as husband and wife writing team, Sean and Beverly, who set out to reproduce their British TV hit for an American network. All of their worst fears come true as Hollywood lives up to its reputation for absurdity. Not only does the network cast Matt LeBlanc in the starring role, but Matt takes the lead in deviously twisting their beloved series into a terrible cliché while testing the couple’s marriage with diversions and temptations.
As we move into the new season, Matt’s latest gig as a game show host has become a smash hit. Unfortunately, that means no one is interested in hiring him as an actor again. Sean and Beverly are equally miserable. Sean’s loathsome ex-partner is now in charge of their new show, ‘The Opposite of Us,’ and Sean and Beverly must now endure his utter lack of humour or talent as they watch him slowly destroy their show…
‘Episodes‘ runs on BBC 2 in the UK, but they have not yet given a UK air date for Season 5. However, it usually runs after the US airing on Showtime has finished (which starts Aug 20th), so that will likely put the UK premiere somewhere in Autumn 2017. We’ll let you know when we have a solid confirmation.
