‘Stranger Things’ Confirms Season 2 October Premiere Date With New Poster

by Dave Elliott

Stranger Things is back, and a few days earlier that we originally thought!

Yesterday Netflix dropped the news that ‘Stranger Things Season 2’ (or part 2, as they are calling it), will return on Friday, 27th October 2017. That’s a few days before Halloween, which is what they’d previously led us to believe would be the air date.

Set a year after Will Byers has been rescued from the Upside Down, it’s now 1984. The citizens of Hawkins, Indiana are still reeling from the horrors of the Demogorgon and the secrets of Hawkins Lab, but a bigger, sinister entity still threatens those who survived…

The press release also included this handy little chronology for those of you wishing to keep track:

  • 1953, Date Unknown – MK Ultra comes to Hawkins
  • 1979 – Police Chief Jim Hopper returns to Hawkins
  • 1983, November 6 – The Vanishing of Will Byers
  • 1983, November 8 – The Vanishing of Barbara Holland
  • 2016, July 15 – Part 1
  • 2017, October 27 – Part 2

Additionally, they have released a shiny new poster for the show, which sees Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) and Will (Noah Schnapp) all on their bikes, facing a very ominous looking skyline, which appears to be hiding a scary monster…

Although she’s not in the poster, we do know that Millie Bobby Brown will return at some point as Eleven, along with Winona Ryder as Joyce, David Harbour as Sheriff Hopper, Charlie Heaton as Jonathan, and Natalia Dyer as Nancy.

Joining the cast this season we have Sean Astin (‘The Goonies’, ‘Lord Of The Rings’) as Joyce’s new boyfriend, and old high school classmate Bob; Paul Reiser (‘Aliens’, ‘Red Oaks’) will play Owens, a Department of Energy executive tasked with containing the events of the first season; Brett Gelman (‘Fleabag’) who plays Murray Bauman, a former journalist turned conspiracy theorist, and Will Chase (‘Nashville’, ‘Smash’) who plays Neil Mayfield, the father of a new family in town.

There are also a couple of new kids in Hawkins, with Sadie Sink (‘Odyssey’) joining as Max, who is described as “a tomboy with a complicated history and a suspicious streak”, and her older brother Billy, played by Dacre Montgomery (‘Power Rangers’), who is your classic “girlfriend-stealing bad boy.”

Stranger Things‘ Season 2 will stream on to Netflix from Friday, 27th October 2017.
