‘Outlander’ Season 3 Gets UK Air Date In September On Amazon Prime

Outlander fans rejoice, for #droughtlander is over! The historical sci-fi drama will return on the 11th September 2017, Amazon Prime UK have confirmed!

It’s been a loooong wait this time around for fans of the show, as filming has been much more complex than usual. The new 13 episode season is based on Voyager, the 3rd book in Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series, which involved moving the production from Scotland to South Africa to borrow the boat sets from Starz’ other big historical series, ‘Black Sails’, which recently came to an end.

Picking up just after Claire (Caitriona Balfe) returns to 1948, she has to deal with the fallout caused by her sudden disappearance… and reappearance. Plus the minor issue that she is now pregnant with Jamie’s (Sam Heughan) child, which is unlikely to go down to well with Frank (Tobias Menzies), her 1940’s husband…

Back in the 18th century, Jamie is suffering, not only from the loss of Claire, but also from the aftermath of his doomed last stand at the battle of Culloden. As the years pass, Jamie and Claire attempt to make a life apart from each other, both haunted by the memory of their lost love.

Given that keeping your main two characters apart is not great storytelling, Claire and Jamie are going to have to find each other again, but as much as Claire wants to be with him, she’s worried. After so long apart, will they be the same people who parted at the standing stones all those years ago?

We will find out, when ‘Outlander‘ returns on the 11th September 2017 to Amazon Prime UK.
