When showrunner Scott Gimple said ‘The Walking Dead‘ Season 8 is going to be “more kinetic and fast-moving,” judging by this trailer, he was not joking!
San Diego Comic-Con comes up with the goods once again, as the Alexandrian Alliance face off against Negan and The Saviors! The trailer starts off black, before we hear the dulcet tones of Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan tormenting poor old Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam)…
We then get a few shots establishing where the various group are, and setting the scene, before Rick’s (Andrew Lincoln) voice over kicks in, rallying the troops to war – “Everything we’ve beaten, everything we’ve endured, everything we’ve risen above, everything we’ve become — no matter what comes next, we’ve won. We’ve already won!”
Cue Daryl (Norman Reedus) back on his bike, and firing off a pistol causing the first of many explosions, fighting, more rousing speeches & one-liners… and of course, Shiva!
It ends on an interesting coda, featuring a very bearded rick, lying in a bed. It would seem the show maybe following in the footsteps of the comic book, and have a 2 year time jump at some point this season.
Speaking of the comic book, there are a few stories floating about how Robert Kirkman has said he’s ending the show’s source material… This is not true. What he said was, he knows HOW the story is going to end, not that he was ending the comics.
‘The Walking Dead‘ Season 8 airs 23rd October 2017 On FOX UK.
