Red Dwarf Returns In October For Series XII (12)

A brief little tease dropped onto Twitter earlier today revealed that Red Dwarf‘ Series XII (or 12 for those that have a problem with Roman numerals), will return to Dave in October.

Today, they released a little bit more info about the content of the upcoming episodes too:

  • ‘Siliconia’ – For the very first time, the rest of the crew discover just how it feels to be Kryten when they’re arrested by the Mechanoid Intergalactic Liberation Front.
  • ‘Cured’ – The Dwarfers come across a ship where criticism is illegal, and a space station where the crew has developed a cure for evil.
  • ‘Mechocracy’ – When all the machines on Red Dwarf go on strike Rimmer and Kryten hold a Presidential election, while The Cat faces an identity crisis like never before when he discovers he needs glasses.
  • ‘M-Corp’ – Lister discovers a simple update of the ship’s latest software could be a matter of life or death.
  • ‘Skipper’ – Finally, Rimmer decides to leave Red Dwarf in search of a parallel universe where he isn’t such a massive loser.

They have released a publicity shot for the mechanoid episode ‘Siliconia’, and the cast revealed that Robert Llewellyn (Kryten) got a new sense of respect from his fellow cast-mates, Craig Charles, Danny John-Jules & Chris Barrie.

“28 years of guilt, of calling him a big wuss,” said Danny. “We literally went out bowing to [Rob], because it was amazing. It was quite disturbing. The thing was we could only see your eyes, scary it actually looks like you in the mask. We ended up in the scenes, kind of staring at each other. The problem was, the sweat sort of collects under the mask but outside it was about -5 degrees, so we’d run out to get fresh air and then nearly die of pneumonia!”

“It was so uncomfortable, so hot,” adds Craig. “I thought I was crying at one point but I wasn’t, I was sweating through my eyes! Chris got ill wearing it.”

The 11th season of ‘Red Dwarf’ really seemed to pull the show back on track, picking up “Best Comedy of the Year” and “Best Returning Comedy” from the ‘British Comedy Guide’, and was voted “British TV Show of the Year” in our very own Geektown Awards.

Red Dwarf‘ Series XII returns to Dave in October. Exact date to be confirmed.
