‘Alan Partridge’ Is Back On BBC One With New Series & 25th Anniversary Special!

Alan Partridge will be back on both BBC One and BBC Two for a new series & 25th-anniversary special it has been announced.

The announcement came from Shane Allen, BBC Comedy Controller, at the Edinburgh International Television Festival, and will see Steve Coogan’s alter-ego come to BBC Two for a 1 hour special later this year to mark the 25th-anniversary of the character first appearing on BBC Radio. Then next year, ‘Alan Partridge’ will be back for a brand new series on BBC One.

“Alan Partridge is in the top tier of comedy characters of all time,” comments Allen. “It fills my comedy heart with joy to welcome him back to BBC One and BBC Two.”

Since Coogan created the character with Armando Iannucci for BBC Radio 4’s ‘On The Hour’, he’s had the tv and radio series ‘Knowing Me, Knowing You’, which was followed by ‘I’m Alan Partridge’, the film ‘Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa’, and most recently ‘Mid Morning Matters’ for Sky Atlantic.

Exact details on the Norwich radio hosts return to the Beeb are being kept under wraps at the moment, but you can bet it’ll be awfully brilliant.

The ‘Alan Partridge‘ 25th-anniversary special will air later in 2017 on BBC Two followed by a new series on BBC One in 2018.
