Paramount Drops First Clips Of Their TV Remake Of 80’s Cult Classic ‘Heathers’

As we mentioned back in July, US channel Paramount Network have a TV reboot of the 80’s cult classic movie Heathers in the works, and although it’s not due till 2018, they’ve dropped the first few clips of the show on to their Instagram account.

Based on the original movie starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater, ‘Heathers’ tells the story of a school which is ruled over by a bitchy clique of 3 people named Heather. Bookish Veronica hates having to deal with their BS every day, but after an incident at a party when one of the Heather’s embarrasses Veronica, the new school bad boy, Jason “J.D.” Dean, steps in to deal with them in a rather fatal way…

This new version of ‘Heathers’ stars Under the Dome’s Grace Victoria Cox as Veronica Sawyer and is described as a “pitch-black comedy anthology” series, which sees her dealing with “a very different but equally vicious group of Heathers.” For a start, one of them is a boy.

James Scully takes the role of JD, Melanie Field plays Heather Chandler, Brendan Scannell plays Heather Duke, and Jasmine Mathews takes the role of Heather McNamara. Selma Blair is playing Jade, menthol smoking, stripper, stepmother to Heather Duke, and Shannen Doherty, who played Heather Duke in the original movie, is also set to join as a guest star in a pivotal, but as-yet-unnamed, role.

You can watch the main video below, but go and scroll through the character pictures on the ‘Heathers’ Instagram account for more clips!

It’s a bit early to have a UK pick up for Heathers, but we’ll let you know when we hear something!
