‘Strike: The Silkworm’ Coming In September!
For those of you enjoying ‘Strike: The Cuckoo’s Calling’, which concludes this Sunday night on BBC One, you won’t have long to wait for more! The BBC have announced ‘Strike: The Silkworm‘, the adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s bestselling novel (written under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith) will arrive on Sunday, 10th September 2017 at 9pm!
After the success in solving the Lula Landry murder, Strike’s agency is getting busy, but when Leonora Quine asks him to track down her missing husband, the novelist Owen Quine, he decides to takes on her case. It seems Quine’s latest book, Bombyx Mori, has libeled a lot of people, leaving Strike to work out who might have the best motive to do him harm.
‘The Silkworm’ is the second in the Cormoran Strike series and stars Tom Burke (‘The Musketeers’, ‘War & Peace’) as the war veteran turned private detective operating out of a tiny office in London’s Denmark Street. Though he’s wounded both physically and psychologically, Strike’s unique insight and his background as an SIB Investigator prove crucial to solving three complex cases which have eluded the police.
Holliday Grainger (‘The Borgias’, ‘Cinderella’) plays Robin, assistant to Strike. Though she begins as a temporary secretary, managing Strike’s chaotic life, she soon becomes involved with his caseload and begins to see her true potential.
‘The Silkworm’ was published to critical acclaim in 2014 and went on to be a global bestseller. This followed ‘The Cuckoo’s Calling’, which was published in 2013, and preceded ‘Career Of Evil’ published in 2015. All three books were number one Sunday Times bestsellers in both hardback and paperback and has sold in total over 4 million copies worldwide across all editions.
All 3 books are being made into tv dramas by the BBC in association with HBO/Cinemax. ‘Strike: The Cuckoo’s Calling’ concludes this Sunday (3rd September), with ‘Strike: The Silkworm‘ coming to BBC One the following Sunday, 10th September 2017 at 9pm. No news on if the 3rd series ‘Stike: Career Of Evil’ will follow directly after that, or if there will be a break, but we’ll let you know as soon as we hear something.
