Sky 1 has picked up Marvel’s Inhumans to air this Autumn the broadcaster has announced today.

‘Marvel’s Inhumans’ explores the never-before-told epic adventure of the Royal Family including Black Bolt (Hell On Wheel’s Anson Mount), the enigmatic, commanding King of the Inhumans, with a voice so powerful that the slightest whisper can destroy a city. After the Royal Family of Inhumans is splintered by a military coup, they just manage to escape to Hawaii where they are greeted with surprising interactions with the lush world and humanity around them. Now they must find a way to reunite with each other and return home to Attilan before their way of life is destroyed forever.

“Sky 1 is the home for the biggest and best US blockbuster TV series, and Marvel’s The Inhumans will be an out-of-this-world addition to the line-up, comments Director of Sky 1 and Sky Living Adam MacDonald. “The series is bold, exciting and entertaining and I can’t wait to see the adventures unfold on Sky 1 this autumn.”

Alongside Anson Mount, the series stars Iwan Rheon (‘Riviera’, ‘Game of Thrones’) and Serinda Swan (‘Ballers’, ‘Graceland’), Mike Moh (‘Empire’, ‘Street Fighter’s’ Ryu), Ken Leung (‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’, ‘Person of Interest’, ‘Lost’), Eme Ikwuakor (‘Extant’), Isabelle Cornish (‘Home and Away’), Sonya Balmores (‘Beyond the Break’, ‘Soul Surfer’) and Ellen Woglom (‘Californication’, ‘Outlaw’.)

The news of this pick comes at the same time that stories have started circling about its possible cancellation, despite the fact it has yet to air in the US. This seems to come from some marketing by US network ABC, who are billing it as ‘the complete series’, which people have taken to mean it’ll be ‘one and done’. It seems more likely this is actually ABC’s poorly worded attempt to differentiate it from the IMAX release which saw the first 2 episodes strung together as a movie. Having said that, critics have not been kind to the initial IMAX release, which is unfortunate. Personally, I thought it had some interesting ideas and could become a fun series, it’s just off to a bit of a rocky start. We’ll have to wait and see whether the show does manage to pull things together.

Marvel’s Inhumans‘ will come to Sky 1 in Autumn 2017.
