‘Ray Donovan’ Picked Up For Season 6, With A Change Of Location

Liev Schreiber’s Showtime series Ray Donovan, which airs on Sky Atlantic in the UK, has been picked up for a 6th Season the US network has announced, but there are some big changes on the way.

The show, which sees Schreiber play a celebrity fixer – the go-to guy who makes the problems of the city’s celebrities, superstar athletes, and business moguls disappear – will be shifting to a new location.

*SPOILER WARNING* for those people yet to catch up with Season 5!

Following the death of his wife, Abby (Paula Malcomson), Ray will be moving from LA to New York for a fresh start, and to try and patch up his relationship with his daughter Bridget (Kerris Dorsey).

Gary Levine, President of Programming, Showtime Networks comments that the show “broke new ground this season with its deeply emotional and innovative approach to Abby’s passing, without sacrificing any of the intensity that has been its trademark. We so appreciate that David Hollander is never satisfied with the status quo, and his creative plan for moving the show to New York reflects his relentless ambition for this series.”

It would appear that production will actually be moving to NYC too, rather than trying to make LA work as a stand-in.

“For our show, creatively, New York is exciting. Fashion, media, finance, theatre, culture. It’s going to present new challenges for Ray Donovan which mean new opportunities for us as dramatists,” adds showrunner David Hollander. “Ray came to Los Angeles to build a life for himself and his family. They’re not there anymore. Ray’s career has changed and he is looking for a place to rebuild his life. Ray thinks he went to New York to help his daughter. He’s going to find out he’s there to help himself.”

Ray Donovan‘ Season 5 is currently airing on Wednesday nights at 9pm on Sky Atlantic in the UK. The 12 episode Season 6 will likely air in Summer 2018.
