Hot on the tale of the news that ‘The Orville‘ will be airing on Fox UK from Thursday, 14th December 2017, FOX US have announced the crew of the mid-level exploratory spaceship will be back for a 2nd Season!
From Emmy Award-winning executive producer and creator Seth MacFarlane (‘Family Guy’, ‘Ted’), the show is a live-action, one-hour space adventure series set 400 years in the future that follows The Orville, a mid-level exploratory spaceship.
Its crew, both human and alien, face the wonders and dangers of outer space, while also dealing with the familiar, often humorous, problems of everyday life. The ensemble series stars MacFarlane as the ship’s Commanding Officer and Adrianne Palicki (‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’, ‘Friday Night Lights’) as his ex-wife, who’s assigned as his First Officer.
“Once again Seth has struck a powerful chord with viewers,” commented Michael Thorn, Fox Entertainment President. “He has delivered a series full of optimism, drama and his trademark humour. We want to thank him and the rest of the talented cast, as well as the producers and crew, for an incredible first season. We can’t wait to see where ‘The Orville’ travels in the second.”
Additional cast members include Penny Johnson Jerald (’24,’ ‘The Larry Sanders Show’), Scott Grimes (‘ER,’ ‘Justified’), Peter Macon (‘Shameless,’ ‘Bosch’), Halston Sage (‘Neighbors,’ ‘Goosebumps’), J Lee (‘Family Guy’, ‘The Cleveland Show’), Mark Jackson (‘That Royal Today’) and Chad L. Coleman (‘The Walking Dead,’ ‘The Wire’).
The renewal had largely been expected given its ratings in the US and the response from fans. The series had actually grown its audience from its lead-in show ‘Gotham’, and, when it launched, was FOX US’s highest-rated hourlong series launch since ‘Empire’, and it’s most streamed debut drama in 3 years.
‘The Orville‘ Season 1 comes to FOX UK on Thursday, 14th December 2017 (exact time TBC).
