Netflix’s The Crown returns for its 2nd Season on Friday, 8th December 2017, and all is not well in the House Of Winsor if this latest trailer is anything to go by.

‘The Crown’ tells the inside story of two of the most famous addresses in the world – Buckingham Palace and 10 Downing Street – and the intrigues, love lives and machinations behind the great events that shaped the second half of the 20th century. Season 2 picks up as Queen Elizabeth’s (Claire Foy) marriage to Prince Philip (Matt Smith) hits a rough patch, and her empire crumbles around her. She must do what is required to ensure the British monarchy survives.

The trailer also highlights the burgeoning relationship between Princess Margaret (Vanessa Kirby) and photographer Antony Armstrong-Jones, 1st Earl of Snowdon (Matthew Goode), tensions between the Crown and Parliment, and the introduction of new Prime Minister Harold Macmillan (Anton Lesser).

Additionally, this season will see the arrival of Dexter’s Michael C. Hall playing John F. Kennedy, with Jodi Balfour as Jacqueline Kennedy, and starts with Britan fighting an illegal war in Egypt, working through the 1960’s, ending with the downfall of PM Macmillan.

This will be Foy & Smith’s final outing as The Queen and Prince Philip before Olivia Colman takes over the lead role moving into season 3.

The series, which was commissioned from the outset for 60 episodes over 6 seasons, has been a smash hit for Netflix, landing 13 Emmy nominations recently including nominations for acting, directing, writing, and a bunch of technical nods.

The Crown‘ Season 2 with stream on to Netflix UK and worldwide on Friday, 8th December 2017.
