Sony Crime Channel Launches In The UK This February

The folks over at Sony have got a new Free-To-Air channel coming to their line up from Tuesday, 6th February 2018 it has been announced. The ‘Sony Crime Channel’ will host a selection of the best scripted and non-scripted entertainment from the genre.

The launch line-up will give people a chance to catch Lionsgate International’s Emmy Award-winning series, ‘Orange is the New Black’ (s1-4), Jed Mercutio’s award-winning cop corruption drama ‘Line of Duty’ (S1-3), the UK premiere of ‘Real Detective: North of the Border’, and crime show stalwarts such as ‘Person of Interest’, ‘CSI’, ‘Deadly Women’, ‘Hustle’ and ‘Law & Order’.

This marks the first time ‘Orange is the New Black’ has come to a Free-To-Air audience, and will air seasons 1 to 4 as a Double Bill every Saturday at 9pm. Another series we love, ‘Person of Interest’, will air all 5 seasons weekdays at 9pm.

‘Real Detective: North of the Border’ gets it’s UK premiere on the channel, and offers a detective’s perspective of the real-life cases that truly challenged them. Cinematic quality recreations powerfully retell the trials and tribulations, the twists and turns, and the highs and lows of each homicide investigation.

To celebrate the launch night SPTN will simulcast ‘Sony Crime Channel’ across its sister channels ‘True Entertainment’ and ‘truTV’ from 9pm in a special event designed to showcase the channel to the biggest audience. The launch will feature a criminally good line-up starting with ‘Person of Interest’ (s1 ep1) at 9pm, ‘CSI’ (s11 ep1) at 10pm and the Free-To-Air premiere of ‘Orange is the New Black’ (s1 ep1) at 11pm.

For those of you looking to find the ‘Sony Crime Channel’, you can get it on Freeview 60, YouView 60, and Sky 157 from Tuesday, 6th February 2018. It will then launch later in the month on Freesat 143 from 13th February.

Impossible to hear what the cast of hustle are saying because of the incessant and very loud music that drowns out their voices – sack the editor or whoever is responsible for ruining this program. It’s on at 9pm as well – different show – we will not bother as we cannot read lips. Disgraceful.

It would seem that if I try to post a comment of more than one paragraph I get the error invalid security token.

If the Sony Crime channel is going to be Sky 157, which is currently the Sony Channel, is that disappearing or moving?

Hope they pay attention to programme length in the EPG for Orange is the New Black. When they showed the last episode of S2 on the Sony Channel before Christmas, the didn’t notice it was a longer episode than normal and the Skyplus recording cut out at least 15 minutes before the end, which I didn’t notice till I watched it weeks later.

Yes – Sky 157, Virgin 193, BT & Talk Talk 331, so comes as part of the entertainment packages on those services. The Sony Movies Channel and this new Sony Crime Channel are free-to-air though. :)
