E4 Sets February UK Premiere Date For ‘Young Sheldon’ & ‘Big Bang’ Return Date
This is the first time UK TV audiences have the chance to meet the eccentric and extraordinary Sheldon Cooper in childhood as he embarks upon his awkward and hopeful journey towards the man he will become.
For nine-year-old Sheldon Cooper (Iain Armitage) it isn’t easy growing up in East Texas. Possessing a once-in-a-generation mind capable of advanced mathematics and science isn’t always helpful in a land where church and football are kings. And, while the vulnerable, gifted and naive Sheldon deals with the world, his family must find a way to deal with him.
His father, George (Lance Barber), is struggling to navigate a path as a high school football coach and father to a boy he doesn’t understand. Sheldon’s mother, Mary (Zoe Perry – real-life daughter of Laurie Metcalf, who plays Mary in the main series), fiercely protects and nurtures her son in a town where he just doesn’t fit in. Sheldon’s older brother, Georgie (Montana Jordan), does the best he can in high school, but it’s hard to be cool when you’re in the same classes as your nine-year-old sibling. Finally, there’s Sheldon’s twin sister, Missy (Raegan Revord), who often resents all the attention Sheldon gets, but also remains the one person who can reliably tell him the truth.
The show is narrated by Jim Parsons, who plays the adult Sheldon in ‘The Big Bang Theory’.
‘Young Sheldon‘ Season 1 comes to E4 from Thursday, 22nd February 2018 at 8:30 pm.
The spin-off will be preceded by the return of ‘Big Bang’ Season 11 part 2, which starts with episode 11 ‘The Matrimonial Metric’. This sees Sheldon and Amy subject their friends to a series of secret experiments to determine who would be most qualified to act as best man and maid of honour at their wedding.
‘Big Bang Theory‘ Season 11, part 2 will begin Thursday, 22nd February 2018 at 8:00 pm.
