‘Jessica Jones’ Renewed For 3rd Season

Everyone’s favourite kick-ass, alcoholic, bad-ass P.I. will return once again as Netflix renews Jessica Jones for Season 3.

The show will star Krysten Ritter as the scotch drinking, leather jacket wearing New York private investigator Jessica Jones once again. Season 1 saw our “hero” deal with her tormenter, Kilgrave (David Tennant), whereas Season 2 had her digging deeper into her past to explore who she is and how she got her powers. Along with Ritter, the series stars Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker, Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth and Eka Darville as Malcolm Ducasse.

Season 2 launched on International Women’s Day, 8th March 2018, on the streaming service, but, whilst Netflix doesn’t release ratings, the show has apparently done well enough for them to pick it up once again. ‘Jessica Jones’ is unique in the Marvel/Netflix show line up as it’s showrunner is Melissa Rosenberg and season 2 was helmed entirely by female directors.

There is no official news on when Season 3 might land yet, and there was a two and a half year gap between seasons 1 and 2… However, Marvel has managed to bump up the production schedules this year, with plans to release 3 shows per year from the various ‘Defenders’ from now on.

‘Luke Cage’ Season 2 is up next, arriving on 22nd June 2018, followed by ‘Daredevil’ Season 3 in the Autumn. After that, we should get Season 2 of ‘The Punisher’ and Season 2 of ‘Iron Fist’ (not necessarily in that order.) There are currently no plans for a 2nd season of ‘The Defenders’ team up series, which means the earliest we’re likely to get ‘Jessica Jones’ Season 3 is in Autumn 2019, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Seasons 1 & 2 of ‘Jessica Jones‘ can be streamed right now on Netflix UK.
