HBO Renews ‘Silicon Valley’ And ‘Barry’
‘Silicon Valley’, which will return for a 6th Season, follows introverted computer programmer Richard Hendricks (Thomas Middleditch) and his start-up company Piped Piper, as he tries to navigate the choppy waters of the high-tech gold rush. Season 5, which is currently airing Thursday nights on Sky Atlantic, sees Richard, Dinesh (Kumail Nanjiani), Gilfoyle (Martin Starr) and Jared (Zach Woods) move to new offices as they attempt to debut their decentralised internet platform, PiperNet.
‘Barry’, which gets a 2nd Season, stars Bill Hader as a depressed, former marine turned low-rent hitman from the Midwest. He’s tired of the repetitive nature of whacking marks, day in, day out and needs a change. As he pursues one target into a drama class in LA, overseen by acting guru Gene Cousineau (the legendary Henry Winkler), Barry becomes smitten with the acting bug – not to mention one of the students.
“While ‘Barry’ has delighted audiences with its deft interplay of comedy and drama, ‘Silicon Valley’ remains as brilliantly and frighteningly prescient as ever,” commented Amy Amy Gravitt, executive vice president, HBO Programming. “We’re thrilled that these two smart, funny shows are returning for another season.”
