ABC Cancels ‘Designated Survivor’ & ‘Quantico’

Not wanting to leave Fox with all the bad news, ABC has joined in the Friday night massacre as it cancels Designated Survivor after 2 Seasons & Quantico after 3 Seasons.

‘Designated Survivor’ starred Kiefer Sutherland as Tom Kirkman, the US Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, who is nominated as the “Designated Survivor” (i.e. a member of government kept separate from everyone in case there is a terrible accident) during the State Of The Union address. When an explosion in Washington kills the current President and entire cabinet, Tom is thrust into the top job as Commander In Chief, a position for which he’s woefully underprepared.

The show didn’t have the highest live ratings but did well with US audiences watching on DVR catch up. Sadly, it wasn’t enough, and ABC decided to give it the boot.

‘Quantico’ followed the lives of young FBI recruits training at the Quantico base in Virginia. Priyanka Chopra (‘Baywatch’) played as Alex Parrish and she’s joined by Russell Tovey (‘Being Human’, ‘Him and Her’), Johanna Braddy (‘Paranormal Activity 3?) and Blair Underwood (‘The Good Wife’, ‘Rules of Engagement’).

This cancellation, unfortunately, doesn’t come as a big surprise. ‘Quantico’ only just scrapped through a renewal last season, and it’s number for season 3 have only gone down. For those of us in the UK, you can watch the 3rd, and now final season, went in lands on Alibi in June 2018.

You can catch ‘Designated Survivor’ over on Netflix.
