Amazon has announces it has ordered a 3rd Season of the stupendous ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel‘ for Prime Video before the 2nd Season has even aired.
The Amazon Original Series was originally picked up for an unprecedented 2 series order when it was first launched. The hilarious show, which comes from renowned creator Amy Sherman-Palladino (‘Gilmore Girls’) and Executive Producer Daniel Palladino (‘Family Guy’), has been a huge hit for the streaming service with both the public and critics. It picked up Critics’ Choice Television Awards & Golden Globe Awards for Best Comedy Series & Actress in a Comedy for star Rachel Brosnahan. It also picked up a Peabody Award, and the Outstanding Producer of Episodic Television – Comedy, from Producers Guild of America Awards.
‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ is written and directed by Sherman-Palladino, stars Brosnahan (‘House of Cards’) as Miriam “Midge” Maisel, a 1958 New York City woman who has everything she’s ever wanted – the perfect husband, two kids, and an elegant Upper West Side apartment perfect for hosting Yom Kippur dinner. But her perfect life suddenly takes an unexpected turn and Midge discovers a previously unknown talent – one that changes her life forever. She charts a course that takes her from her comfortable life on Riverside Drive, through the basket houses and nightclubs of Greenwich Village as she storms the world of stand-up comedy… a course that will ultimately lead her to a spot on Johnny Carson’s couch.
The show also stars Michael Zegen (‘Boardwalk Empire’) as Midge’s husband Joel Maisel, Alex Borstein (‘Family Guy’) as Susie Myerson, Golden Globe winner and three-time Emmy winner Tony Shalhoub (‘Monk’) as Midge’s father Abe Weissman, and Marin Hinkle (‘Two and a Half Men’) as Midge’s mother Rose Weissman.
‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel‘ Season 1 can be watched right now on Amazon Prime Video. Season 2 is due to air later in 2018.
