Stana Katic’s ‘Absentia’ Renewed For Season 2

‘Castle’ star Stana Katic will return in a 2nd Season of Amazon drama Absentia it has been announced.

Katic plays FBI Agent Emily Byrne who went missing for six years while working on a case, leaving her 3-year-old son Flynn and loving husband Nick (Patrick Heusinger) behind. Emily was presumed dead, the victim of a serial killer. She reappeared 6 years later with no recollection of what has happened and found herself being treated as a victim and then as the main suspect in a new series of murders. So much happened in the lost six years – Nick had remarried to Alice (Cara Theobold), and Flynn (Patrick McAuley) didn’t recognise his mother. Her colleagues and family had mourned her loss and some were finding it difficult to reconcile the new Emily with the old. Events and evidence sent Emily on the run to prove her innocence.

Additional cast included Neil Jackson, Angel Bonanni, Richard Brake, Ralph Ineson, Paul Freeman and Bruno Bichir.

Whilst no plot details have been released for season 2 yet, we do know there have been some changes behind the scenes. Samantha Corbin-Miller (‘Conviction’, ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’) has taken over showrunning duties and is likely to be heading up the writer’s room too. Once again, the show will be 10 hour-long episodes. ‘Absentia’ was created by Gaia Violo and Matt Cirulnick, and airs on Amazon internationally.

No news on exactly when Absentia‘ Season 2 will land on Amazon Prime UK, but we’d expect it to arrive at some point in early 2019.
