The Spectacularly Brilliant ‘UnREAL’ Returns For Season 4 To Amazon Prime UK In July
One of our favourite shows, ‘UnREAL‘, is making its second appearance in 2018 as Season 4 comes to Amazon Prime UK In July.
For those who haven’t yet caught this series, it’s set against the backdrop of the hit dating competition show ‘Everlasting’, and follows flawed heroine Rachel Goldberg (Shiri Appleby), a young producer whose sole job is to manipulate her relationships with, and among, the contestants to get the vital dramatic and outrageous footage that the program’s dispassionate executive producer, Quinn King (Constance Zimmer), demands.
As we head into Season 4, Rachel and Quinn return changed by the events of the last series. Rachel is trying to become loveable to secure a ring from her dream man, whilst Quinn has been preoccupied with a getaway with Chet (Craig Bierko). With Quinn’s lack of involvement, Rachel and new producer Tommy (François Arnaud) try to protect their perfectly planned series from being destroyed by a panicked Quinn. With old contestants and a new format, this series is poised to be more dramatic than ever.
Whilst I know many of you may look at this and think “Really? A show about those awful reality dating shows?”, I urge you to go and watch it. It’s co-created by uber-writer/producer Marti Noxon (‘Buffy/Angel’, ‘Code Black’, ‘Dietland’… and a million other things) and Sarah Gertrude Shapiro. The series is based on Shapiro’s actual experiences working as a field producer on ‘The Bachelor’, it shows the crazy lengths the production staff will go to in order to stir up the drama between the contestants.
The show has won Critics’ Choice and Peabody Awards and picked up nominations for Emmys and TCA Awards. The first 3 seasons are on Amazon Prime UK right now and I urge you to go and watch, even if you don’t think it’d be your sort of thing. You will not be disappointed.
‘UnREAL‘ Season 4 will launch on Prime Video on Tuesday, 17th July 2018 with all 8 episodes landing on the same day.
