Christina Applegate To Star In Dark Comedy ‘Dead To Me’ For Netflix

Sitcom veteran Christina Applegate is returning to tv comedy as she lands the lead role on a new, dark, Netflix comedy Dead To Me, from exec producers Will Ferrell and Adam McKay.

The 10-episode half-hour series is described as a dark comedy about a powerful friendship that blossoms between a tightly wound widow and a free spirit with a shocking secret. Applegate plays Jen, a poised and put together woman with a dark sense of humour and an anger problem that she doesn’t necessarily want to deal with. Jen has been struggling to keep it together in the months since her husband was killed in a hit and run.

The show comes from comedian/actress/writer Liz Feldman (‘One Big Happy’, ‘2 Broke Girls’) who will also serve as showrunner. It is produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay (‘Anchorman’, ‘Talladega Nights’) alongside Jessica Elbaum, Feldman and Applegate, and produced by CBS Television Studios and Gloria Sanchez Productions for Netflix.

This marks the first return to tv comedy for Christina Applegate since starring in the 2012 comedy ‘Up All Night’ with Will Arnett. She also starred in the series ‘Samantha Who?’, and has made guest appearances in a number of shows including ‘The Muppets’, ‘Friends’ and ‘Web Therapy’. She is, of course, best known for playing Kelly Bundy in the classic American sitcom ‘Married With Children.’ Applegate previously worked with Ferrell and McKay on the ‘Anchorman’ films.

Netflix hasn’t given a release date for Dead To Me, but we would assume it’s going to be late 2018 at the earliest, but possibly 2019. We’ll let you know when we hear more.
