‘Colony’ Cancelled After 3 Seasons

Sci-fi drama Colony has been cancelled by USA Network after 3 seasons it was announced over the weekend.

Created by Carlton Cuse (‘Lost’, ‘The Strain’) & Ryan Condal (‘Logan’s Run’), the show was set in a near-future Los Angeles, where a mysterious alien race has invaded the planet, Katie (Sarah Wayne Callies) and Will (Josh Holloway) Bowman find themselves on opposite sides of the occupation after their son is taken. Will is collaborating with the enemy on the promise that they will release him, where as Katie is a member of the resistance.

According to Deadline, the series started out strong, pulling in 2.2 million viewers when it launched, making it the Number 1 scripted drama on cable in the US during the first two seasons. However, numbers began to fall during it’s 2nd Season, and only continued downward when Season 3 launched, eventually ended up as the lowest performing US drama in the crucial 18-49 demographic this year. That’s a difficult position to bounce back from, which led USA Network to ditching the series.

Colony aired on Sky One in the UK, but the 3rd Season has yet to appear on the schedules. It’s possible this is the reason why. Hopefully Sky will decide to at least put it up On Demand or it could show up late Summer, but at the moment, Season 3 is MIA in the UK. We’ll let you know when we hear something.
