NBC Orders 2-Part Season Finale For ‘Timeless’
It looks like we’re going to get to see the gang save Rufus after all! NBC has ordered a 2-part season finale of time travelling drama ‘Timeless‘.
Whilst it might not be the news of a new series fans were hoping for, we will at least get a conclusion to the massive cliffhanger which ended Season 2. Just over a month ago we were given the déjà vu news that NBC had cancelled the show for a 2nd time. Producers did try to shop it around to streaming services and other networks, but unfortunately didn’t get any bites.
“While we wish we could’ve made another dozen seasons of Timeless, this is the next best thing,” commented exec producers Shawn Ryan and Eric Kripke in a joint statement. “We’re thrilled to take the Lifeboat out for one last spin and bring closure to our story. The studio, network, cast and crew are all doing this for one reason only: the fans. Because they deserve it. Because the fans made this happen and we thank them for their passion, support and helicopters. So? You guys want to get Rufus back or what?”
The show’s season 2 finale saw *SPOILER WARNING* Rufus be killed during a mission to 1888. As the crew return home to mourn their loss, a future version of Lucy and Wyatt arrive in an upgraded lifeboat inviting the team to save their fallen comrade.
Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter, Malcolm Barrett, Goran Višnji?, Paterson Joseph, Sakina Jaffrey and Claudia Doumit will all return for the 2-hour finale.
