Star Trek’s Brent Spiner Joins ‘Supergirl’

Supergirl will be getting an influx of Data next season as Brent Spiner joins the cast for a recurring role.

The ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ actor will be playing the US Vice President Baker when the Girl Of Steel returns for her 4th Season in the Autumn. The character is described as “adept and politically minded” and an “unlikely leader who steps up in a big way when his country needs him most.”

Spiner has appeared in a number of shows and over the years such as ‘Warehouse 13’, ‘Outcast’ and the ‘Independence Day’ movies. He also voiced senator-turned-rebel, Gall Trayvis, in ‘Star Wars Rebels’. However, he is, of course, best known for playing Data on ‘Star Trek’, along with Data’s brother, Lore, and his creator, Dr. Noonien Soong.

Spiner will join other new faces next season as Sam Witwer stars as new “big bad”, Agent Liberty, and transgender actress Nicole Maines, who joins the show as transgender superhero Dreamer, aka Nia Nal.

Melissa Benoist, Mehcad Brooks, Chyler Leigh, Katie McGrath, and David Harewood as all set return for Season 4. Jeremy Jordan, who plays lovable DEO geek Winn Schott, has been downgraded from series regular to a recurring role, as Winn headed off to help out the Legion in the future at the end of Season 3. He’s traded places with Brainiac-5, who stays behind to help the DEO, and sees Jesse Rath upgraded to a series regular. Chris Wood‘s Mon-El won’t be returning after the character headed back to the future with Winn.

Supergirl‘ returns to Sky One in Autumn 2018.
