NBC has given a “put pilot” commitment to ‘Adversaries’, a new legal drama from the creators of ‘Blindspot’ starring ‘Blindspot’s’ Archie Panjabi.
‘Adversaries’ stars Panjabi as a successful LA attorney who leaves her comfortable, coastal bubble to practice law in America’s heartland, her home state of Wisconsin. She’s forced to confront preconceived stereotypes and realize there’s more that unites us than divides us.
The show comes from ‘Blindspot’ exec producer Alex Berger, who will write the series. Warner Bros. Television will produce the show with ‘Blindspot’ creator/exec producer Martin Gero through his Quinn’s House production company. Archie Panjabi will also exec produce.
Archie Panjabi starred as Nas Kamal, head of Zero Division, a secret department of the NSA, in Season 2 of ‘Blindspot’. She also won an Emmy for her role as Kalinda Sharma in ‘The Good Wife’, and most recently starred in ITV’s ‘Next of Kin’ with Jack Davenport.
Although ‘Adversaries’ does only have a pilot commitment, the fact it’s a “put pilot” means it’s extremely likely to go to series. A “put pilot” basically means that NBC would have to give a shedload of money to WBTV if they don’t air the pilot, either as a special or as part of a series. We’ll let you know when we hear more.
