Entertainment One UK has released the first trailer for the upcoming movie ‘Green Book’ starring Academy Award nominee Viggo Mortensen as Tony Lip and Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali as pianist, Don Shirley.
Set in America in 1962, ‘Green Book’ tells the heart-warming true story of Tony Lip (Viggo Mortensen), a working-class Italian-American bouncer who takes on a job as a chauffeur for Dr. Don Shirley (Mahershala Ali), a highly-educated African-American classical pianist. The mismatched pair embark on a two-month tour of concert venues in the racially charged deep south and discover they’re on the road to a meaningful and unique friendship.
Whilst this film might not be the normal fantasy or sci-fi we’d cover, but I’ve been waiting for this trailer to arrive for some time… That is mainly due to having inadvertently having interviewed a number of the movie’s crew!
For the past 18 months, when we booked an interview for the Geektown Radio Podcast, a movie called ‘Green Book’ kept coming up as the interviewee’s next project. From Composer Kris Bowers, to the wonderful Costume Designer Betsy Heimann, and brilliant Makeup Designer Tarra Day All of them have been working on this mysterious ‘Green Book’ film. I even interviewed Hair Stylist Lawrence Davis, whilst he sat in his car in between takes on the set! It’s finally nice to actually see what they were all creating, and it looks really great!
The film is directed by Peter Farrelly (‘Dumb and Dumber’, ‘There’s Something About Mary’), who co-wrote the screenplay alongside Brian Hayes Currie and Nick Vallelonga.
‘Green Book’ will be coming to UK & Irish cinemas soon.
