by Dave Elliott

The Purge TV series has found a UK home on Amazon Prime it has been announced today.

During a 12-hour period when all crime, including murder, is legal, a group of seemingly unrelated characters cross paths in a city in an altered America. While the clock winds down, some will fight, some will hide, others will embrace what it means to Purge to its fullest extent — whether for revenge, personal gain, protection, or unadulterated glee. As each character is forced to reckon with his or her past and plot how to better their futures, they soon discover how far they will go on Purge Night.

Gabriel Chavarria (‘East Los High’, ‘War for the Planet of the Apes’) stars as Miguel, a US Marine who returns home on Purge Night after receiving a cryptic message from his sister, Penelope, played by Jessica Garza (‘Six’). Hannah Anderson (‘Jigsaw’) stars as Jenna, an anti-Purger devoted to charitable causes who is accustomed to locking down on Purge Night, with Colin Woodell (‘The Originals’) as her husband, Rick, who is discovering rubbing shoulders with the pro-Purge elite presents challenges to his marriage. Amanda Warren (‘Three Billboard…’, ‘The Leftovers’) plays Jane, a dedicated and hardworking finance professional who hires a Purge-assassin to try and advance at her firm, and William Baldwin (‘MacGyver’, ‘Backdraft’, ‘Sliver’) portrays Don Ryker, Jane’s boss.

Film creator James DeMonaco serves as writer and executive producer, while a host of familiar talent also contributes: Thomas Kelly (‘Copper’, ‘The Get Down’) serves as the showrunner, while Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning director of USA’s ‘Unsolved: The Murders Of Tupac And The Notorious B.I.G.’, Anthony Hemingway, directs and exec produces.

The Purge‘ tv series premieres Wednesday, 5th September 2018, just hours after the US, on Amazon Prime UK.
