Universal TV Sets October Premiere Dates For ‘The Resident’ Season 2, ‘Chicago Med’ Season 4, ‘Law & Order: SVU’ Season 20

We’re hurtling towards that time of year when tv starts to get crazy again, as all your favourite shows return. If you are a fan of procedural and medical dramas, Universal TV has you covered, as The Resident Season 2, Chicago Med Season 4, Law & Order: SVU Season 20 all return in October 2018 to the UK.

‘The Resident’ follows a group of doctors at Chastain Memorial Hospital, as they face personal and professional challenges on a daily basis. Season 2 finds star resident Dr. Conrad Hawkins (Matt Czuchry) continuing to make difficult calls in the best interests of his patients. But, having rekindled a romantic relationship with nurse Nicolette ‘Nic’ Nevins (Emily VanCamp), the two now must face unresolved issues from their past.

Conrad’s father, Marshall Winthrop (Glenn Morshower), has taken over as head of Chastain and comes into direct conflict with the hospital’s newly minted CEO, Dr. Randolph Bell (Bruce Greenwood). Meanwhile, Dr. Mina Okafor (Shaunette Renée Wilson) continues to work with her larger-than-life mentor, Dr. AJ Austin (Emmy Award nominee Malcolm-Jamal Warner, ‘Suits,’ ‘The Cosby Show’). However, the skills of new ortho surgeon Dr. Kitt Voss (Jane Leeves, ‘Hot in Cleveland,’ ‘Frasier’) could lead Mina on a different path. First-year resident Dr. Devon Pravesh (Manish Dayal) becomes intrigued by new medical device rep Julian Booth (guest star Jenna Dewan, ‘Step Up’), whose presence at the hospital will upend business as usual for everyone there.

Dick Wolf’s ‘Chicago Med’ returns for it’s 4th Season, and will have a few new faces joining the state-of-the-art trauma centre. Molly Bernard (‘Younger’) joins the cast as Elsa Curry, an intelligent, know-it-all, intense and overconfident med student. Colby Lewis (‘One Tree Hill’) will play Terry McNeal, a star football player who gave up a lucrative NFL contract to go to medical school.

‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’, the longest-running primetime drama currently on television, returns for its 20th Season, as it continues to chronicle the life and crimes of the NYPD’s elite squad of detectives who investigate crimes of sexual assault, child abuse and domestic violence.

Joining the cast in recurring roles this year are Mark Tallman (‘Rise’) as Gavin Riley, the chief of detectives who’s on his way to being governor one day and isn’t afraid to step on toes, and Dylan Walsh (‘Nip/Tuck’, ‘Unforgettable’) as John Conway, a self-made man and major beverage distributor who is respected by his community and looked up to by his children. George Newbern (‘Scandal’) also joins in a recurring role as Dr. Al Pollack, a charming, handsome and very wealthy doctor who is a past and future love interest to Detective Rollins (Kelli Giddish).

The Resident‘ Season 2 gets its UK premiere on Tuesday, 16th October 2018 at 9pm, with ‘Chicago Med‘ Season 4 starting Sunday, 21st October 2018 at 9pm, and ‘Law & Order: SVU‘ Season 20 arriving Wednesday, 24th October 2018 at 9pm, all on Universal TV.
