The 8th Season of Ryan Murphy’s epic series, this one titled ‘American Horror Story: Apocalypse‘, premieres in the UK at the end of September, and the first trailer giving us a decent look at the show has finally landed.
As is usual with ‘American Horror Story’, exact plot details are rather thin on the ground, however, as the title rather suggests, this one sees the end of the world (as we know it), but people are far from feeling fine. The trailer opens with a dystopian wasteland, before cutting to mass panic as people try to escape from Santa Monica. Leslie Grossman, Evan Peters, Billie Lourd, and Joan Collins escape on a plane, which promptly crashes, although it would seem the passengers survive. Cut to Outpost 3, led by a rather stern looking Sarah Paulson, who lays out the ground rules for “rescued” group. No leaving, and no hanky-panky unless it is sanctioned… I have a feeling at least one of those rules will be broken fairly quickly…
We do know from previous announcements that this season will have some call back to Season 1, aka ‘Murder House’ and Season 3, aka ‘Coven’, although the trailer doesn’t really help in clarifying how that will fit in. We also know Jessica Lange, who appeared in the first 4 seasons of the show, will be returning this year.
Other returning cast includes Kathy Bates, Adina Porter, Emma Roberts, Cheyenne Jackson, Billy Eichner, Taissa Farmiga, Gabourey Sidibe, Lily Rabe, Frances Conroy, Stevie Nicks. They will be joined by new cast member, Cody Fern (‘Assassination of Gianni Versace’).
