Domhnall Gleeson To Star In HBO Pilot ‘Run’ From Phoebe Waller-Bridge

Domhnall Gleeson has taken a lead role in the upcoming HBO comedy/thriller ‘Run’ from ‘Fleabag’ and ‘Killing Eve’ writer/actor Phoebe Waller-Bridge it has been announced.

Created by Phoebe Waller-Bridge and ‘Fleabag’ script editor Vicky Jones, ‘Run’ follows Ruby, a woman living a humdrum life, who gets invited to fulfil a youthful pact promising true love and reinvention… But only if she’ll go on a journey with her oldest flame.

Gleeson is set to play Billy Johnson. He’s the charismatic, sweet-talking son of a wealthy Irish family and a successful life guru, but also has a bottomless need for approval. Phoebe Waller-Bridge will take a recurring role on the series. The lead role of Ruby has yet to be cast.

Domhnall Gleeson has been keeping very busy lately, not only starring as General Hux in the latest ‘Star Wars’ trilogy, but he also popped up in the ‘Peter Rabbit’ movie and played Alan Milne in ‘Goodbye Christopher Robin’. He previously starred as Bill Weasley in the ‘Harry Potter’ films and took the lead role in Alex Garland’s ‘Ex Machina’. ‘Run’ marks the first time he has committed to a full run on a tv series.

eOne will produce the pilot for HBO. Waller-Bridge & Jones exec produce via their production company DryWrite, along with Emily Leo from Wigwam Films.

‘Run’ is still only at the pilot stage right now, but we’ll let you know if it goes to series.
