Netflix Orders Adaptation Of YA Novel ‘Trinkets’ Starring ‘Deadpool’s Brianna Hildebrand
Netflix has ordered an adaptation of Kirsten “Kiwi” Smith’s young adult novel ‘Trinkets‘, starring Brianna Hildebrand, Kiana Madeira, and Quintessa Swindell it has been announced.
When three teenage girls from different corners of the high school cafeteria find themselves in the same mandated Shoplifter’s Anonymous meeting, an unlikely friendship forms. Elodie (Hildebrand) — the grieving misfit, Moe (Madeira) — the mysterious outsider, and Tabitha (Swindell) — the imperfect picture of perfection, will find strength in each other as they negotiate family issues, high school drama and the complicated dilemma of trying to fit in while longing to break out.
Brianna Hildebrand is probably best known for her role as Negasonic Teenage Warhead in the ‘Deadpool’ movies. She has also recently starred as Verity in ‘The Exorcist’ tv series and in the film ‘Tragedy Girls’.
Kiana Madeira has most recently starred in Facebook Live drama ‘Sacred Lies’. Her other work includes roles in ‘Dark Matter’, ‘Wynonna Earp’ and ‘Conviction’. Her next big part sees her taking on the role of Spencer Young, aka Spin, in the new season of ‘The Flash’.
Quintessa Swindell has starred in the indie film ‘Utopia’, and played the lead in the upcoming movie ‘Granada Nights’.
Other cast includes Odiseas Georgiadis (‘The Stand-In’, ‘Dr. Bird’s Advice for Sad Poets’) as Noah, Henry Zaga (’13 Reasons Why’) as Luca, Brandon Butler (’13 Reasons Why’) as Brady, Larry Sullivan (‘Big Little Lies’, ‘Scandal’) as Doug, October Moore (‘Baskets’, ‘Grimm’, ‘Portlandia’) stars as Vicky and Larisa Oleynik (‘Mad Men’, ‘Hawaii Five-O’) as Shawn.
The show is being written by Amy Andelson & Emily Meyer (‘Step Up 3D’), alongside novel author Smith. The trio will also exec produce with Linda Gase (‘Still Star-Crossed’, ‘Blue Bloods’) who serves as showrunner. Sara St. Onge (‘You Me Her’) will direct the opening 2 episodes of the 10-episode x 30min series. Awesomeness, a subsidiary of Viacom Inc. will produce the show.
Netflix hasn’t announced when ‘Trinkets‘ will premiere, but we’ll let you know when we hear more.
