E4 Picks Up Free-To-Air Rights To ‘The Good Place’ With Season 1 Airing In December

Some extremely good news for those of you without Netflix. E4 has picked up the second-run rights to forking superb comedy The Good Place and will be airing Season 1 in December.

Created by Michael Schur (‘Parks and Recreation’, ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’), the hilarious comedy follows the newly deceased Eleanor Shellstrop (Kristen Bell), who has been sent to “The Good Place” after her death… but only by clerical error. Eleanor is supposed to be in “The Bad Place”, but is determined to become a better person and earn her spot in this pleasant afterlife.

While hiding in plain sight from Michael (Ted Danson), the wise architect of “The Good Place” (who doesn’t know he’s made a mistake), she’s determined to shed her old way of living and discover the awesome (or, at least, the pretty good) person within. She enlists the help of her kind-hearted soulmate Chidi Anagonye (William Jackson Harper), a former professor of ethics and moral philosophy, to help her navigate her new surroundings and teach her how to be a good person.

The series also stars Jameela Jamil as the wealthy philanthropist Tahani Al-Jamil, Manny Jacinto as the nice but dim Jason Mendoza, and D’Arcy Carden as Janet, the avatar who acts as a guide to “The Good Place” for it’s residents.

‘The Good Place’ is now on its 3rd Season, and has picked up multiple Critics’ Choice and TCA awards since beginning it’s run, along with multiple Emmy nominations. If you’re not a Netflix subscriber, so haven’t caught it yet, I urge you to make sure you start watching on E4, as it is one of the funniest and most unique comedies on TV in recent years.

The Good Place‘ Season 1 premieres Thursday, 13th December 2018 at 9pm on E4.
