‘Game Of Thrones’ Gets New Teaser And 15th April UK Premiere Date

by Dave Elliott

As I’m sure many of you are probably aware, Game Of Thrones releases a little teaser trailer last night officially confirming the premiere date as Monday, 15th April 2019 for the final season on Sky Atlantic in the UK.

Whilst ‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 8 will only have 6 episodes, they will be 6 supersized episodes, which have been described as being more like 6 movies than a tv show. David Nutter directed the little teaser you can see above which features the Stark children wandering through the Winterfell crypt, before coming face-to-face with their own statues. As Jon (Kit Harington), Sansa (Sophie Turner) and Ayra (Maisie Williams) turn and draw swords, a freezing fog descends… Winter has most definitely come…

David Nutter, who has directed multiple episodes including Cersei’s walk of atonement in ‘Mother’s Mercy’, will take episodes 1, 2 and 4 of the epic drama’s final season. Miguel Sapochnik who previously directed ‘Hardhome’ and the Emmy winning ‘Battle of the Bastards’ takes episodes 3 and 5. Exec producers and showrunners David Benioff & D. B. Weiss will direct the final 6th episode.

As to how the story will play out, that is anyone’s guess, as the plot has been kept a closely guarded secret. We do know from little clips that Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) and Jon – her lover and, erm, nephew… will make it to Winterfell. That will presumably be followed by an awkward conversation with Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright) about his true parentage… The tv show is ahead of the books by this point, so you can’t even skip ahead to see how things end. Whatever happens, someone will end up on the Iron Throne. It’s just a case of finding out who.

Game Of Thrones‘ 8th and final season premieres Monday, 15th April 2019 at 2am on Sky Atlantic & NOW TV in the UK, with a repeat later in the evening.
