Netflix Revives Docuseries ‘Unsolved Mysteries’ With Original Creators & ‘Stranger Things’ Producers
Netflix has picked up a revival of classic docuseries ‘Unsolved Mysteries‘ from the original show creators and the producers of ‘Stranger Things’ the streaming service has announced.
For those that didn’t catch the original show, it was a documentary series which profiled real-life mysteries and featured re-enactments of unsolved events. These ranged from the relatively normal, such as unsolved murders or missing persons cases, to things like alien abductions, UFOs, and paranormal phenomena.
This modern take on the classic series promises to maintain the chilling feeling viewers loved about the original, while also telling the stories through the lens of a premium Netflix documentary series. Each episode will focus on one mystery and once again will look to viewers to help aid investigators in closing the book on long outstanding cases.
Original show co-creator Terry Dunn Meurer will serve as showrunner on the all-new version of the show and will exec produce alongside fellow co-creator John Cosgrove. Shawn Levy and Josh Barry are exec producing for 21 Laps, the people behind ‘Stranger Things’.
The original ‘Unsolved Mysteries’ ran for 11 seasons and 260 episodes chronicling over 1,000 stories, and received six Emmy nominations. Netflix has given the new version of the show an initial order of 12 episodes.
There’s no news yet on exactly when ‘Unsolved Mysteries‘ Season 1 will premiere, but we will let you know when we have more info.
