‘The Magicians’ Renewed For Season 5

Magic is still in the air for Syfy US as they renew Quentin and the gang for a 5th Season of The Magicians it has been announced.

Based upon Lev Grossman’s best-selling books, ‘The Magicians’ stars Jason Ralph (‘A Most Violent Year,’ ‘Aquarius’) as Quentin Coldwater, a brilliant grad student who enrols in Brakebills College for Magical Pedagogy, a secret upstate New York University specializing in magic. He and his 20-something friends soon discover that the magical fantasy world they read about as children is all too real – and poses a grave danger to humanity. Stella Maeve (‘Chicago P.D.’), Hale Appleman (‘Teeth’), Arjun Gupta (‘Nurse Jackie’) and Summer Bishil (‘Towelhead,’ ‘Lucky 7’) also star.

Season 3 of the drama saw a world where magic had been taken from humans. This led to the gang embarking on a series of quests to find seven keys that will restore enchantment to all worlds. Also amid this chaos, the threat of losing their crowns loom as Eliot and Margo battle angry Fillorians and merciless Fairies who are tired of being ruled by children of Earth.

Whilst the US is getting Season 4 right now, over on this side of the pond we’re still waiting for 5Star to schedule it. That’s likely not going to be until late Spring/Summer, but when it does eventually return, we’re going to see a few changes. Even with their new identities, our core group is far from safe since, inside Castle Blackspire, an ancient, powerful and unkillable Monster escaped confinement and jumped bodies to a new host, Eliot. The season ended with The Monster finding a mind-wiped Quentin, and Season 4 will pick up with The Monster seeking out the others, and something else…

We still don’t have a date yet for The Magicians‘ Season 4 on 5Star, but keep an eye on the UK TV Air Dates page for all the latest news.
