Marvel has released our first look at ‘Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘ Season 6, which returns to the US in the Summer, and (hopefully) not too long after that in the UK on E4.
Despite the trailer having the tagline “Coulson Is Dead”, there is someone (or something) with a very Coulson (Clark Gregg) looking face and body still wandering around it seems. To recap, if you remember the craziness of Season 5, the gang spent half the season battling to escape from the Kree, who were holding them on a space station… in the future.
Once back on Earth in the present, they had to deal with a bonkers Glenn Talbot (Adrian Pasdar) who had gone off the rails and turned supervillain (although he thought of himself as a hero). In the final showdown, Quake (Chloe Bennet) takes down Talbot, but Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) is mortally wounded and dies… Although that’s less of an issue, due to the fact there is another Fitz still floating around in stasis somewhere, so Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) sets off to find him… Also, Yo-Yo (Natalia Cordova-Buckley) loses both her arms at some point (which is very careless), so now has shiny new metal ones.
Meanwhile, it’s been revealed Coulson is dying after last season’s dealings with Ghost Rider burned through the Kree DNA that healed Coulson’s original fatal injury (the one in the Avengers movie). At the end of the season, we season Coulson hand over the reins of SHIELD to Mack (Henry Simmons) as he and May (Ming-Na Wen) go and rest on a beach in Tahiti.
In the new trailer, we see someone say to Coulson-alike “You’re from SHIELD?”, to which he replies “Never heard of it.” So that begs the question, who is this Coulson shaped man? Is it Coulson, but with amnesia? Is it something else entirely? Is he/it good or evil? We need answers!
We will find out when ‘Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘ Season 6 premieres on E4 later this year.
