DC Universe’s Titans series is adding Deathstroke when it returns for its 2nd Season, and Esai Morales will be the new face behind the black and orange mask.

The live-action drama follows a group of young soon-to-be superheroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe by Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites), who is trying to emerge from the shadow of Batman.

Slade Wilson is known for being DC’s deadliest assassin. While serving his country, Slade became an elite soldier before government testing enhanced his physiology to near superhuman levels, putting him on a path of darkness and revenge. To his family, Slade is a father and husband, but to the rest of the world, he is feared by many as the infamous Deathstroke; selling his services to the highest bidder as the ruthless assassin that never gives up and never misses.

Deathstroke should be a pretty familiar face to fans by now, whether you’re following the tv shows, film franchise, or comic books, as Morales is the third actor in recent years to take on the role. The most well known on-screen version will be Manu Barrett’s portrayal in ‘Arrow’. Additionally, Joe Manganiello made a very brief appearance as the character in the post-credit scene of the ‘Justice League’ film. Deathstroke has also popped up in various animated series voiced by a host of people including Ron Perlman, John DiMaggio and Miguel Ferrer.

Created in 1980 by Marv Wolfman and George Perez, Deathstroke started out as a villain of the Teen Titans, but has become a much more prominent character in his own right, even getting his own Eisner-nominated comic run by Christopher Priest. He has been associated with a host of teams over the years including H.I.V.E., the League of Assassins, Injustice League, Checkmate and Suicide Squad.

Esai Morales is an actor who has popped up in a ton of series over the years. Most recently you may have seen him on ‘How to Get Away with Murder’ as Laurel Castillo’s father Jorge, or as Deputy Director Louis Ochoa in ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’. Previously he has appeared in shows such as ‘Chicago P.D.’, ‘From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series’, ‘Criminal Minds’, ‘Jericho’, ‘NYPD Blue’, and ‘Caprica’.

Morales joins the returning cast of Brenton Thwaites (Dick Grayson), Teagan Croft (Raven), Anna Diop (Starfire), Ryan Potter (Beast Boy), Alan Ritchson (Hawk) and Minka Kelly (Dove). They are also joined by Australian actor Joshua Orpin, who will star as Superboy in Season 2.

Titans‘ Season 1 can be streamed right now on Netflix UK.
