Marvel’s Runaways Renewed For Season 3

Hulu has renewed Marvel’s Runaways for Season 3 the US streaming service has announced today.

Based on the 2003 comic book by Brian K. Vaughan (Buffy Season 8, Saga) and Adrian Alphona (Ms. Marvel, Uncanny X-Force), Runaways follows a group of teens who, despite their dislike of each other, must band together against a common enemy… Their parents… When the group discover their various elders are actually part of an evil cabal called ‘PRIDE’,  the teens start to learn their true heritage. Some find they have abilities, whilst others decide to swipe some magical items from their evil parents and set out to defeat them.

We are so excited to tell more Runaways stories and are so grateful to Marvel, Hulu, our amazing cast and crew and of course our passionate audience,” commented co-showrunners and Executive Producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. “Season three will be a magical time on Runaways, as we deepen our connection to the Marvel universe. We are honoured to continue to play in the sandbox created by Brian K Vaughn and Adrian Alphona.”

“Deepen our connection to the Marvel universe” is an interesting turn of phrase… Could we be seeing some bigger names from Marvel canon making their way over to the Runaways part of the Marvel tv universe? Or maybe some direct connection to the MCU following the events of ‘Avengers: End Game’? We will have to wait and see!

The series stars Rhenzy Feliz, Lyrica Okano, Virginia Gardner, Ariela Barer, Gregg Sulkin, Allegra Acosta, Annie Wersching, Ryan Sands, Angel Parker, Ever Carradine, James Marsters, Kevin Weisman, Brigid Brannagh, James Yaegashi, Brittany Ishibashi, and Kip Pardue.

“Thank you, Hulu! We’re thrilled that Marvel’s Runaways is back for its third season,” added Executive Producer Jeph Loeb. “Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage and the amazing writers have something epic in store for our terrific cast.”

‘Marvel’s Runaways’ is executive produced by series showrunners/writers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (‘The O.C.’, ‘Gossip Girl’) along with Marvel’s Head of Television, Jeph Loeb (‘Jessica Jones’, ‘The Defenders’). Fake Empire’s Lis Rowinski also produces. ‘Marvel’s Runaways’ is a co-production with ABC Signature Studios and airs on Hulu in the US.

Marvel’s Runaways‘ premieres on Syfy UK on this side of the pond, and has recently concluded Season 2.
